Apart-Karee hotel

is well located in the heart of Prague just nearby the famous boulevard, Wenceslas Square, in the center of the commercial district surrounded by historical monuments. The fragments of the former interior, such as stained-glass windows of the XIX century, oak shutters and doors, fireplaces and stucco mouldings were preserved there. All of this, in combination with a modern design, has made the hotel a magnet for visitors.

In the XIX-th century it was owned by Prague minister of finance Count Nostic as well as around 30 other houses. One of his buildings is owned at the moment by Ministry of Culture after his descendants presented it to it. As APART-KAREE it is also located in Nove Mesto, one of the famous parts of Prague.

If other districts of the city are fascinating with their curling magic streets and fairy buildings, Nove Mesto and Wenceslas Square amaze because one sees how grandiose was the idea of the architect`s plan.

Wenceslas Square, the main thoroughfare of Prague, is lined by departments stores, hotels, cafes. Wenceslas Square was named Horse market and used to be a link between Stare Mesto, but already in the time of Charles IV it became the main axis of the city and divided it into two parts. In the upper part were standing Horse Gate where horse sale took place.

Gradually views had changed and the esthetic approaches did not leave place for «fragrant» goods. Rich merchants and nobles started to build palaces on both sides and the spirit of new style of this place was spreading all over small adjoining streets.

The primal purpose of Wenceslas square to be a market has not changed since that time. The main activity just moved from outside into rich modern buildings. But the form was already different - buildings with lighted show-windows attracted people and neon ads offered fantastic goods.

These nice buildings hide also a lot of other possibilities to spend good time inside of them - cafes, wine restaurants, cinemas, theatres and many other, which could give a tired traveller a chance to relax.
